Our friends at Dogtown Design had just completed an extensive remodel of this Berkeley Hills home when our new wonderful clients asked us to reimagine the outdoor spaces for them. The home was painted to match Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul in Mexico City. In the front garden we chose an assortment of drought tolerant sculptural succulents, Bougainvillea, and complimentary flowering perennials that pop off of the Kahlo blue. We installed low voltage landscape lighting to cast shadows on the home and illuminate the unique laser cut steel panel fence designed by the home owner. The back garden was an overgrown jungle with good bones. We removed a lot of plant material and weeds to discover some very nice mature palms, bamboo and fig trees. We installed a stock tank fountain, a solid palette of Farallon plants with a new drip irrigation system and low voltage landscape lighting. Our clients now enjoy dining and entertaining guests in the front and back gardens.
